Yaozhou cerulean-blue-glazed “Daguan” bowl with peony patterns of Song Dynasty is a piece of tribute porcelain made by Yaozhou Kiln in the year of Daguan under the reign of Empire Huisong of Northern Song Dynasty and is one of the rare representatives of Yaozhou Kiln. In 2002, the culture heritage was obtained by the State Administration of Cultural Heritage at the Hong Kong Sotheby Auction Fair with the special capital for key and rare cultural heritage of the state. At the delivery ceremony, the Yaozhou cerulean-blue-glazed “Daguan” bowl with peony patterns of Song Dynasty with the caliber of 9.7cm was covered with a piece of red cloth. It is said that the Yaozhou cerulean-blue-glazed “Daguan” bowl with peony patterns of Song Dynasty has complete shape, pure color and special patterns, and is of high value. It exactly proves that Yaozhou Kiln has close relationships with the palace in Northern Song Dynasty, and reflects important historical position and great artistic and cultural achievements of Yaozhou Kiln. The site of Yaozhou Kiln was located to the south of Huangbao Town, Wangyi District, Tongchuan City, Chenlu Town, Yintai District and its surrounding areas. It is the key cultural heritage protection unit of the country. The kiln was established at Huangbao Town in Tang Dynasty. After five generations of development, the Yaozhou Kiln reached the peak period in Song Dynasty. In Jin-yuan Dynasty, the kiln continued to make porcelains. After the Jin-yuan Dynasty, the burning center moved earthward to Chenlu Town and its sorrowing areas. The fire of the kiln didn’t go down in Ming, Qing dynasties and the Minguo period. The kiln has burned the porcelains for as long as 1,300 years. This is rarely seen in China’s porcelain history. “As the homeland of Yaozhou Kiln, Yaozhou has constructed the main hall of the museum, the hall for protection of sites of Tang and Song dynasties and the hall for protection of the site of Tangshancai Kiln, which are opened to the public. We have the conditions for collection, research and demonstration. The collection of Yaozhou cerulean-blue-glazed “Daguan” bowl with peony patterns of Song Dynasty by the Yaozhou Kiln Museum will make the cultural heritage to return to homeland and accept proper protection and researches, so as to bring its value into full play. On the other hand, it will play an active role in enriching the collections of the museum, increasing the exhibits and promoting academic researches,” said Xue Dongxing, Curator of Yaozhou Kiln Museum.
